Management Uses
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
The data has been used as the evidence base for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s (PNCPA) Recreation Plan. Information from the project has also assisted in providing data for the PCNPA Recreational Website where management issues and knowledge of capacity have proved a useful tool in drawing up messages for best practice. It has also assisted in highlighting locations that may not need marketing for a particular activity due to site infrastructure.
Carmarthen Bay and Estuaries European Marine Site
Recreation layers have been used in the Management Plan for the Carmarthen Bay and Estuaries European Marine Site (CBEEMS) see bespoke work. The project is part of Welsh Government’s Destination Management Toolkit looking at sustainable management of tourism destinations throughout Wales. It has also been used by the Erocips and subsequent project ARCOPOL when emergency planning for coastal pollution responses.
Case Study: Comparison of Recreation Participation at Whitesands Bay 2009 & 2019
To demonstrate the WAM data set and how it can be used in decision making Whitesands Bay was chosen as a case study. By concentrating on one site, the case study provides opportunity to showcase the information within the database, affording an insight as to how the evidence can be utilised to inform management decisions.
